<span class="x_s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext" , serif , "emojifont";">The first time I heard about vintage makeup was during pregnancy.

<span class="x_s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext" , serif , "emojifont";">I was watching videos on YouTube about safe makeup products during pregnancy and I came across a video about dangerous makeup during Edwardian and Victorian age. Women didn't know what they were putting on their faces and many of the ingredients in makeup could have killed them.

<span class="x_s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext" , serif , "emojifont";">Thanks to this video I discovered Madeleine Marsh.

<span class="x_s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext" , serif , "emojifont";">I watched her interviews and some photos of her beautiful collection about antique and vintage makeup and knew she also had written a book about it.

<span class="x_s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext" , serif , "emojifont";">I had to have it.

<span class="x_s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext" , serif , "emojifont";">I ordered it on amazon and finished in a couple of hours.

<span class="x_s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext" , serif , "emojifont";">Before that time I collected some items from the Edwardian and Victorian era such as a corset ,a wedding gown and some other pieces which in the meantime had been sold on Etsy and Catawiki, but never seriously got into antique gowns collection.

<span class="x_s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext" , serif , "emojifont";">When I discovered Marsh's collection I knew it was my thing.

<span class="x_s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext" , serif , "emojifont";">Vintage makeup is tiny, beautiful to display, got great packaging and spread through a various type of materials: as Madeleine advices you can collect almost everything from powder compacts to photographs, from dance compacts to talcum powder tins.

<span class="x_s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext" , serif , "emojifont";">Here in my area I only found a couple of items but thanks to Etsy, eBay and my passion for travels my collection is growing, slowly but constantly.

<span class="x_s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext" , serif , "emojifont";">I will talk about my vintage makeup collection here on my blog but if you want a preview of what I call a constant work in progress you can take a look here (mobile version) :

I have a lot of new vintage style clothes and my collection of victorian and edwardian garments is growing up , so I really want to share it with you vintage lovers.
I'm thinkin how to improve this old blog, if you have any ideas share it with me :)
I have to admit I missed a lot writing and reading about vintage style life, so I'm trying to repair.
In my first post after all this months (a year or so) I'll share with you 2 pictures which came in my hands from my aunt and are now displayed in my living room . I'm proud of them :)
My great aunt Eudemia (I told you about her and her life many months ago) and her husband Giovanni are posing in this pictures on they wedding day (May 2 1939) and on their honeymoon in Venezia (Venice). My aunt had a very unfortunate life, she died at only 25 just some months after her husband came home from war in 1945.
I pray for her everyday and I would have loved to meet her because I look a lot like her.
Hope you will like these pictures and will continue following me, I promise I will take better outfit pictures!!!!!!!
See you soon

Fonte: burlesque.it

Questo show ebbe un clamoroso successo a New York, spostandosi poi a Chicago, New Orleans, Saint Louis, Cincinnati e altre grandi città statunitensi.

Negli anni si è creata una comunità mondiale di nomi ricorrenti: Dirty Martini, Dita Von Teese, Angie Pontani and the World Famous Pontani Sisters, Jo “Boobs” Weldon, The World Famous *BOB*, la compagnia Velvet Hammer… E anche la TV non è rimasta indifferente: This or That!

Ann Corio
(1917, Hartford, Connecticut – 1999, Englewood, New Jersey)

Nel 1962 tornò in qualche modo sui suoi passi, creando il disco Ann Corio Presents: How to Strip for Your Husband – Music to Make Marriage Merrier.
Sito ufficiale >>

Bettie Page
(1923, Nashville, Tennesse – 2008, Los Angeles, California)

Sito ufficiale >>

Blaze Starr
(1932, Wilsondale, Wayne County, West Virginia – )

È autrice del libro Burlesque and the Art of the Teese/Fetish and the Art of the Teese e dell’ancora inedito Stripteese.
Sito ufficiale >>

Dixie Evans

Nel 2007 è stata incoronata Miss Exotic World, nell’ambito del Miss Exotic World Pageant and Striptease Reunion.
Siti ufficiale >>

Jennie Lee

Bosom, in inglese, significa seno.
Dopo la sua morte, l’amica Dixie Evans aprì al pubblico il ranch/museo, chiamandolo Exotic World Home of the Movers & Shakers’ Burlesque Museum and Striptease Hall of Fame.

Jo “Boobs” Weldon
Performer, presentatrice, produttrice, fotografa, blogger e insegnante.

Little Egypt

World’s Fair, in uno spettacolo intitolato The Algerian Dancers of Morocco.

Lydia Thompson

– Not a family show.

Pontani sisters (Angie, Tara e Helen Pontani)

<a class="shutterset_" title="Angie Pontani (USA.
