3 reasons why I like winter..

1- Xmas
I love cold and gloomy December afternoons when the streets are full of people carrying bags and looking for presents

this is the song that makes me think about Xmas the most. I can't imagine a Xmas without cold, rain and snow

2- stockings
in every colour and every fabric,i can't get tired of them!

Memories of Life and War

I think my biggest regret was not to have asked my grandpa about his life and youth during the war. I was 12 years old when he died, too young for being interested in the past..what i know about him is what my dad has told me.
During fascism every young man had to attend a military school before joining the army.My grandpa tried to desert but the milizia threatened his family so he had to came back to the navy. When he left for war was about 21 years old,and when Italy signed the armistice his ship was captured by germans in France. They were taken in a concentration camp near Colonia. My grandpa menaged to escape after 2 years, coming back to Italy almost entirely by feet. When he reached home he found out his older sister Eudemia was seriously ill,so he left home again and hiding himself on a train, arrived at his sister's,but it was too late because she died few hours before. My aunt Maria,my grandpa's younger sister, told me that when her sister was about to die told her mother not to cry because if a daughter was leaving a son was coming back. I see a little miracle in her profetic words because she didn't know her brother was in safe.
In this pic there's my grandpa's sister Eudemia who died at only 25. My family say i look a lot like her especially when I smile. I would have love to meet her.

porta portese part 2

thanks to my aunt just few days ago i found out my favourite market in roma, porta portese, has got a twin: porta portese 2.
today i went there with my mom and my boyfriend, and i've just came back home (very tired indeed, this market is tooooo far from central station).
i have to say i prefer porta portese 1 because there are more vintage goodies to buy, but even in this second market i made my good deals: 2 shirts and one skirt only at 0,50 euro cent each,a cute 60s black&white blazer only 4 euro, plus my mom's purchase which i'm ready to steal... :)
this was also the first time i tried a new hairstyle:rockabilly hair. i made the front roll with a hair rat .to make it i used a little piece of black fabric filled with my own hair, the ones i find in the hair brush and in the shower :)it was the 1st time i wore my hair like that so please be kind with me!!
here's some pics (porta portese pics from 06blog.it)

le ragazze dello swing

Photobucket

about a month ago,i watched a tv series called "le ragazze dello swing"(swing girls).
it's the story about the trio lescano,a popular swing trio during the fascist regime. the 3 sisters, judith, kitty and alexandra lived in italy, but were from holland and to mantain their original accent the producers used three dutch actresses Andrea Osvárt, Lotte Verbeek and Elise Schaap. originally, the name of the trio was "leschan trio" but they italianized their surname into lescano, since during fascism non-italian words were prohibited. they reached a great success but by the beginning of the war, despite the fact that mussolini was a great fan of them, they were imprisoned in genova because the regime found out their mother was jewish. after their release judith, alexandra and their mother emigrated to argentina, while kitty remained in italy with her italian husband and left the trio. her substitute was maria bria, but no one found out kitty left the trio because at that time tv didn't exist and almost no one knew how kitty looked like. the series was a great inspiration for 30s to mid 40s outfits; last sunday me and my family went to a lunch in rome and i wore my new 30s style dress in blu(one of the colours i like the most)made by me and my mom(it was a great collaboration i think!),with my super-cute shoes i received as bday present from my boyfriend
